       Many kudos to the new Nigerian Ambassador to Spain who in less than 3 years in office he has taken giant steps to conquer greater heights. Nigerians in Spain are among the few Nigerians away from home who have the opportunity of scanning for and actually getting their Ecowas Passport done right in the country they resides in. This has really brought smiles on the faces of many Nigerian who never would have been able to go home and scan for their E-Passport.

     The Embassy’s issuing of the Ecowas Passport is a trade mark move but the way the exercise is been conducted is less admirable. A solicitor will have to make payment online to the authorization office in Nigeria which is perfect. And he or she will receive a payment confirmation which automatically qualifies him or her to scanning at the Nigerian Embassy. The Nigerian Embassy will then in turn demand for an appointment letter which the applicant we have to send to the Embassy’s email address. Here is the odds, this applicant’s email will be treated at a date best convenience to the Embassy. The applicant will probably have to wait for days or even weeks. Like my self, I waited for nearly a month. This unnecessary delay, inevitably make the solicitor keep re-applying, in the light that the one he once submitted was either not received or probably has been skipped.

      This action in turn accumulates the Embassy’s inbox with repeated applications for the same account. And in ignorance, the Embassy in turn reply all this applications which automatically mean that there will be some days when  seats will be given to people who have long scanned and even collected their passport. This is a clear indication that the application mail received by the Embassy are not even been verified before seats for scanning date is given in it’s account. Verifying emails once accumulated may not be easy, but can be adverted by simply responding to the applicant’s email at least, within 48 hours. This can be possible if someone is assigned to do this job and if need be this job alone. It won’t be that difficult as a custom reply message will be created, all he needs to do is paste the custom reply message and only change the date and some other things that requires changes.

So many  people have to go to the Embassy to laid complaint about their sent application.  In my case I have to visit the Embassy on 3 different occasions to find out why my application email was taken longer than normal to be treated.  On one of those occasions when I told one of the worker that I have sent my application getting close to a month now and still no reply. He asked me to go and send another one. I almost laugh at the confident in which he said it, it was as if he was so sure that my former application must have been skipped or deleted or probably would never be looked into.

    To be frank the Nigerian Embassy has really improved in recent times since the arrival of the new Nigerian Ambassador to Spain, who in virtue is a complete gentle man. The possibility of having the new Nigerian Ecowas Passport machine mounted here in Spain and the Police Report scanning exercise which twice has been conducted since August last year, is a clear indication of the manner of man the Ambassador is.

    Nigerians in Spain though may not be totally satisfy with the Nigerian Embassy in Spain ‘s conduct, but in unison agreed, that kudos be given to them for their obvious improvement. And more grease to the elbow of the man at the helm of affair; The present Nigerian Ambassador to Spain who is a complete gentle man and a man worthy of honour.
